Elon Musk vs. SBF, Alameda CEO, Genesis $1.8 Billion Loans, and More | | | DeSpace Weekly Newsletter #19 – December 5, 2022 | | | Dear Despace community, We have another amazing newsletter for you to read. Just like before, this week’s newsletter covers all the most important news from the crypto space from last week as well as recent important updates from DeSpace Protocol. | | | What Happened in the Crypto Market Last Week: | | | Elon Musk Accused Democratic Party In the U.S. of Receiving Over $1B From SBF | Tesla and Twitter CEO accused the Democratic Party in the United States of receiving over $1 billion from Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), former CEO of collapsed exchange FTX. Replying to someone’s tweet about SBF’s $40 million donation to the Democrats, Musk claimed “That’s just the publicly disclosed number. His actual support of Dem elections is probably over $1B. The money went somewhere, so where did it go?”
This is not the first time Elon Musk has made a bold accusation over SBF’s connection to the U.S. government. Previously he made couple of tweets hinting the connection between the two (SBF and Democratic Party). | | | | Alameda CEO, Caroline Ellison Was Spotted In Manhattan | Controversial Alameda Research CEO, Caroline Ellison, who was in relationship with SBF, was reportedly spotted in Manhattan, New York City. According to a tweet published by the Twitter account dubbed Autism Capital, Caroline may have been spotted in New York. Autism Capital wrote: “PLEASE CONFIRM: A user claims that they spotted Caroline Ellison at Ground Support Coffee on West Broad in SoHo Manhattan at 8:15 AM. This would mean she is not in Hong Kong and is in NY not in custody.”
Many FTX users feel disappointed with how both SBF and Caroline Ellison are both still walking free. | | | | Genesis Creditor Groups' Loans Amount to $1.8B, Potentially More | Customers whose money is locked up on trading and lending platform Genesis and who have taken legal advice on the matter currently account for some $1.8 billion of loans, according to a person familiar with the situation. And that number looks like it will continue to grow. The Financial Times had recently reported that a group of customers using cryptocurrency exchange Gemini’s Earn program, which is tied to Genesis, were owed $900 million. | | | | | | What happened at DeSpace Last Week: | | | This is our 19th newsletter, where we bring the latest and most interesting updates from both the crypto world as well as DeSpace directly to your inbox.
